PACIFIC GROVE, Monterey County — October 26, 2026. Families and property owners in Pacific Grove Unified School District can review Measure K before the November 3 election. This is a proposed special parcel tax of $85 per parcel for five years, not a $40 million school-construction bond. Monterey County’s ballot materials project approximately $800,000 annually and specify that a two-thirds majority is required.
The ballot identifies reading and mathematics, services for students with disabilities, affordable before- and after-school programs and student mental-health counseling as supported activities. Schools named include Forest Grove Elementary, Robert Down Elementary, Pacific Grove Middle, Pacific Grove High, Pacific Grove Community High and adult education facilities. Spending disclosures and audits are part of the proposal, and the language prohibits using these proceeds for administrator salaries, pensions or benefits. A yes vote would authorize the parcel tax; a no vote would reject it. The measure is not in force just because it appears on the ballot.
